This past year my husband and one of my daughters became gluten free and while it has been relatively easy at home eating out has been really hard. We hardly ever eat out but sometimes our super busy lifestyle means we have to and when we are on the road, we really have little choice. I have been compiling a list of safe places to eat for those who cannot have gluten and thought I would share because I know we are not alone in needing gluten free on the go.
Chipotle – This is our number one choice as the whole family loves it and no one has ever gotten sick from eating it.
Chick-fil-a – Grilled chicken nuggets, Grilled chicken sandwich and they have prepackaged gluten free buns, waffle fries.
Wendy’s – Hamburger without a bun, Chili, Frosty, Baked potato
Donatos – Gluten free pizza
Noodles & Company – Pad Thai with rice noodles, Thai Green Curry with Shrimp, Thai Chicken Soup, Tomato Basil Bisque, Wisconsin Mac & Cheese, Pesto Cavatoppi, Pasta Fresca, Penne Rosa, and Steak Stroganoff. Just be sure to mention you need the gluten free fusilli or rice noodles in these dishes.
McDonald’s – Another place to get a burger with no bun, you can ask for it wrapped in lettuce instead
Panera – Baked Potato Soup, Black Bean Soup, Coconut Macaroon, Triple Chocolate Cookie with Walnuts
Sonic – Hot dog no bun, Hamburger no bun, breakfast sausage, bacon, Philly steak, eggs
Five Guys – Hamburgers no bun, hot dog no bun, fries, and milkshakes.
Bibibop – You can make a gluten free bowl as long as you stick to steak or tofu and only use the following sauces: yum yum, cucumber wasabi, or sesame ginger.
Jimmy John’s – They offer an unwich (no bun but wrapped in lettuce instead) all the meats look good but avoid the tuna salad.
Jason’s Deli – They offer gluten free buns, multiple soups, potatoes and even gluten free snickerdoodle cookies.
Starbucks – Egg bites for breakfast they also have marshmallow bars that are a great on the go treat.
If you have any other gluten free on the go restaurants to share, I would love to add them to the list!
