Master bedrooms are supposed to be where parents go to relax and unwind after a long day of parenting. A sanctuary of peace and calm. Not mine! My master bedroom was the opposite of this in every way. The furniture we had was hand me down from my husbands grandparents and many of the drawers did not shut which made the room always feel messy, no matter what. The other major problem was the wall color, beige, my least favorite color ever for walls. So basically our room was a disaster and we finally decided to fix it and create a place of peace.
The very first thing we did was paint the room. I am in love with the color we ended up with, a combination of light blue and light gray. I love the serene feeling of this color, every time I walk in the door I breathe a sigh of relief. Next we had to deal with the lack of closet space issue. We decided to build our own PAX wardrobes from IKEA. I love that we were able to customize them to meet our needs inside and out. My husband and I each built one and we decided to not have dressers cluttering up our small space.
Now that we figured out hoe to store our clothes with working doors that close, and we fixed the paint color it was time for some new bedding. This bedding was a panic clearance purchase when our bedspread tore and I was never really in love with it. I turned to one of my favorite stores for a new quilt that would brighten up our pace. Soft Surroundings came through with the Marrakesh Express Quilt in sorbet. The blues go well with the wall color and add the pops of color I was looking for.
I added this throw pillow and teal throw blanket to really bring out the many colors in this stunning quilt. I love that I am greeted with this vibrant bedding every time I walk in the door. The next spot in the room I needed to tackle was this area right inside the door. We used to have this storage bench at the end of our bed but decided we liked having the room more open.

Thanks to Soft Surrounding for providing bedding, all opinions are my own.
