Have you told a mom lately how great her kid is?
Have you told a mom about the great thing you saw her kid do?
Recently I had two back to back instances where random people told me great things about one of my daughters. She is just coming into her own as a person and it warmed my heart to know that others are seeing the great girl that she is. As a mom we see both the best and worst in our kids. Some days it can be hard to remember all the wonderful attributes our kids possess, they have a knack for making us extra crazy. They know how to push all our buttons at once and then go a bit farther, trying to see just how far they can push us before we break.
Next time you see a kid do something kind, generous or otherwise noteworthy tell their mom. I promise no mom will ever be mad or offended if you praise their child. This parenting thing is hard and we all want to know that our hard work is paying off. Recently I read an article about some high schoolers doing amazing things and I thought to myself, I want to give that mom a hug and tell her what a great job she is doing. I also want to ask her what the secret to this parenting thing is.
So please, make a mom’s day. Share the great thing you saw her kid do! Send her a text, write an email or call her up, but tell her! Good things need to be acknowledged!
