Cedar Point has become a much-anticipated part of every summer for our family. For years my husband and I foolishly thought we needed to have older kids to enjoy Cedar Point, then 3 years ago we had a chance to stay at the newly renovated Breakers Hotel and try Cedar Point with our kids. It was an amazing trip that we repeated the following year and we have plans to do it again at the end of this summer. Last week we took a last minute trip to Cedar Point and combined it with a stay at Castaway Bay and a visit to my brother’s house for my neice’s birthday. It was a fun filled 3-day trip that was just perfect!
We woke up early and left at 6:30am to make the 3 hour drive to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. We arrived before the gates were open which meant we got to see the band play and the gates be opened, what a fun way to start the day! GateKeeper was zipping back and forth by the gate adding to the excitement as we waited to start riding on such a beautiful day. As soon as we entered we split up, my husband and the big girls heading for roller coasters and the little ones heading to Kiddie Kingdom with me. Cedar Point actually has 3 separate areas full of little kid rides making it an ideal place for the whole family.
I am so proud of my older girls for tackling roller coasters this year. It has taken a year of building up courage but they rode Iron Dragon, Cedar Creek Mine Ride and Corkscrew. Sadly it was a high wind day so they couldn’t ride Gemini or Raptor. The girls loved all the rides they tried and already have the order of coasters mapped out for when we go back this fall. After the coasters we hot all the other fun rides that spin, twirl, zip and rotate until you feel sick! I am pretty sure my girls rode the Matterhorn 7 times!!!!
We had plans to visit the new Shores water park, which looks amazing, but sadly it began raining and storms were rolling in. My kids were excited by the Lily Pad Walk, Splash Pad and many, many water slides. Lucky for us we had a room at Castaway Bay and the weather is always perfect there. We headed back after we ate dinner at Johnny Rocket’s in Cedar Point. Somehow, we never realized that Johnny Rockets is on the meal plan, money saving tip always get the all-day dining plans because it saves you tons of money and you eat well. We get 4 bands for our 7 people and eat in shifts, works perfect!!
Castaway Bay is just a short drive down the road and the perfect place to stay when you visit Cedar Point. You get access to the water park both the day you check in and the day you check out so if you get some bad weather at Cedar Point you can head to the indoor water park at Castaway Bay. The rooms offer stunning views of Lake Erie and the water park is the perfect size. We finished the day playing at the indoor water park and spent the whole next day playing it the water park as well. After a full day of play we headed to my brothers to continue our mini vacation, exhausted and full of great memories from Cedar Point and Castaway Bay!
Thanks to my partnership with Blog Meets Brand and Cedar Fair for a great trip!
