I am always in awe of interior designers, they take a blank slate and make something amazing and beautiful. It takes a special kind of mind to envision the possibilities of a room and make it happen. I often think it must be a lot like when I have a vision for an outfit and then trying to put it together and make it happen. It can also be frustrating when I have a vision in my mind and can’t find the exact pieces to bring it to life.
I had to chance to ask a few questions of Mary Cook Associates design team about how they come up with designs and current trends. So, if you are redecorating pay attentions.
Design Trends of 2017
Distressed Casual Style – The handpicked curated look is very on trend right now. They are seeing the casual Restoration Hardware look everywhere from HGTV to Instagram and Pinterest.
Neutrals: Neutrals are everything, mix your cool and your warm neutrals. Keeping the walls neutral means, you can add texture and color with your accents. Worldly texture and pattern add that dimension to a room and are easy to change in the future.
Make your design choices around your family and how you will best use the space. The interior designers create a fictional family for each M/I Home and create rooms with them in mind.
I love that M/I Homes knows what modern families need and that is storage, a central gathering place and plenty of places to gather together.
The Minerva Park M/I Homes model offers this fabulous loft gathering space upstairs, how I would love to have a great space like this for my kids to hang out with friends. Unlike the basement this is light and open and a great place to hang out.
This master bedroom is the perfect mix of neutral and light color, I just wanted to curl up in that reading nook and stay all day! And the vaulted ceiling makes it feel so spacious and inviting.
