Potty training, it is a truly glorious thing ( once they are fully potty trained). Even though your child no longer wears diapers that doesn’t mean you no longer need a bag of stuff for them. Let’s be honest a 3 year old needs just as much stuff as a two year old, the only exception being no more diapers. Now you probably have back up underwear and even a back up outfit (mom tip: pack the clothes in a zip lock bag so you have it for wet clothes if an accident happens). As for baby wipes, I am not sure those ever go away. I carried baby wipes in college after a dry cleaner told me how useful they are in getting stains out of delicate fabrics. I can attest to his wisdom! I once spilled Dr Pepper on light gray wool pants, the baby wipes got them completely clean ( no stain at all).
Three year old’s also often need a snack, a drink and things to entertain them. My kids are constantly attending practices, games and events for their siblings so they need a full bag of stuff. Initially I used a kids back back but since I am the one who ends up carrying it that got old. I wanted a cute bag that I can throw my wallet in if I don’t want to carry two bags. I tried a cute adult backpack purse but after the first drink spill it was ruined and I was not thrilled.
I knew I did not want to go back to a diaper bag but what about a backpack that is lined like a diaper bag but does not look like one at all. I was browsing BabyCubby and found several options I loved. It was a tough decision between Coco + Kiwi Provence Diaper Bag and the Little Unicorn Marindale Backpack Diaper Bag. Both bags looked fabulous and could be worn as backpacks or messengers. Both bags are stylish and not babyish at all and well made with lots of useful pockets and accessories. The Coco + Kiwi is $110 and made of glazed canvas and faux leather details, the Little Unicorn bag is $90 and made of cotton canvas and vegan leather with a wipeable liner.
I ended up getting the Little Unicorn Marindale Backpack Diaper Bag in black and I LOVE IT. The first time I used it was for church on Sunday. Instead of walking in all dressed up carrying a little kids backpack I strolled in with a super cute bag on my shoulder that hid all my kid stuff with room to spare. This bag came with all kinds of accessories so if you want to use it as a diaper bag you can. It has: Cushioned changing pad, Matching stroller straps, iPad pocket, Seven roomy accessible pockets and Adjustable, padded shoulder straps. They really thought of everything with this bag. I have a spot for all my stuff, no more digging through one giant pocket.
I can not recommend this bag enough and if you sign up for emails from BabyCubby you can save an additional 10%! If a backpack is not your style check out all the cute options at BabyCubby, the selection is amazing so you are sure to find one you love!
