Laughter is good for the soul and food is good for my belly, I filled up on both last night at Sobou NOLA in the French Quarter in New Orleans.
When the manager comes out to comment on what a great time you are having you know that you have found a gem of a restaurant. From the moment I stepped foot in Sobou I knew this meal was going to be fantastic. I have a special place in my heart for the French Quarter in NOLA. The architecture, the people and the atmosphere suck me in and appeal to my romantic side. The gas lamps are so beautiful flickering in the darkness and the wrought iron work everywhere add a touch of southern elegance.
Sobou combines that rich culture and atmosphere with creative food, unique flavor combinations and all around amazing food. The wall of glowing bottles sent my blogger heart aflutter, I knew it would make for stunning pictures. If you ever find yourself in the French Quarter at dinner time you must stop into Sobou and ask for Mary Ann to serve you, she was amazing.
All weekend long I joked that I was eating my way through New Orleans, the food is just so amazing, but I kid you not when I say I ate my way through the Sobou menu. I was joined by my dear friends and fellow bloggers so the company could not be beat.
We started at the beginning with starters and if you only try one thing at Sobou make it the Yellowfin Tuna Cones. Yes an ice cream cone filled with yellowfin tuna and pineapple ceviche topped with basil avocado ice cream and shaved coconut. Mary Ann recommended to take a bite from the top and bottom to get all the flavors… my mouth exploded with taste!
From there I moved on to Sweet Potato Beignets, then a Shrimp Salad and finally Brown Sugar and Chili Brined Pork Tenderloin. All the food was amazing and so was the company. We laughed until we cried on many occasions and it was a fabulous night. When you spend 3 hours working your way through a menu surrounded by good friends and a fabulous server you know you will be coming back. And did I mention the unique and delicious cocktail I tried? The Fujimori’s Fax Machine, try it!
Have you ever eaten at Sobou NOLA?
