Bath time with your baby is one of those special moments. The first bath warrants a picture and subsequent baths are almost sacred time of mommy and baby bonding. That’s how it always starts for me then somewhere along the line bath time becomes just about getting the kids clean and quickly.
Toys got moldy so I threw them out and didn’t replace them and slowly a lot of the fun left. I have 5 kids and bath time became like brushing your teeth… just do it. Then I spent some time in New York with Johnson Baby discussing bath time and what it can be.
Did you know that infant massage is super important? Infant massage and touch in general is crucial to a baby’s growth and development and not just a newborn baby. It doesn’t have to be a comprehensive massage but take the opportunity of bath time and rub those little toes, gently massage that sweet head and make bath time a time of bonding.
Bath time can be, and let’s face it should be, a time to play and discover. It’s when you learn about bubbles and how fun water can be. Bath time is the perfect time to work on colors and shapes even letters and numbers. A few items we love to use are Bath Tub Crayons or Bath Letters and Numbers.
Did you know that Studies have shown that babies bathed with a fragranced bath product (compared to those who were not) displayed 30% more engagement cues with their parent after bath. Yep so maybe switch out your regular bath products for the nighttime version of Johnson’s Baby with calming lavender scent.
Speaking of scents I was fascinated to learn how much research and development goes into the Johnson Baby scent. There are all different notes that evoke different feelings but together it is an iconic scent that we all associate with baby.
So I am taking bath time back for my little ones. I am buying the toys, the crayons and I am leaving the phone down stairs and focusing on my sweet girls. They are growing too fast and soon they will be independently showering just like their big sisters. Now is my time with them and bath time is sacred so I am taking it back.
