Did you know that Cedar Point has an indoor waterpark called Castaway Bay? Neither did I! Recently my family got the chance to escape winter without ever leaving Ohio, we went instead to Castaway Bay a fantastic indoor waterpark on the shores of Lake Erie. We packed up our car and headed north about 2 and half hours and walked in the door of summer fun leaving lots of snow and cold outside for 24 hours!
Castaway Bay offers traditional hotel rooms as well as family style suites, for those larger families like mine, to stay in while enjoying the waterpark. It is not required to stay the night as day passes are available, but I highly recommend it. As someone who has gone to multiple indoor waterparks I find that staying on site is key to getting the most out of your adventure. The reason I love staying onsite is that you can take breaks and head back to your room when needed, waterparks can be exhausting and with little ones they need a break from it all before they can keep going and having a room close by is key. I also love being able to change in my own room as well as shower plus you can stay at the park until closing and be there when the doors open the next morning.
Castaway Bay offers all kinds of water fun once you go through the doors to the waterpark. You have the little kid area with shallow water, small slides and a few other water filled fun things. Then you have the wave pool, my kids favorite area, when that buzzer sounds to signal waves are coming they lit up with joy! While the big waves made this mom nervous the available life vests ( and strict use of them enforced by the many lifeguards) put my mind at ease.
They also have a dumping bucket, which seems to be mandatory for water fun, as well as slides of all heights for the kids and adults to enjoy. They also offered an adult hot tub as well as a fun barrel walk across the water. So much to do we never had a dull moment or an “I’m bored” second.
While at Castaway Bay we were so busy enjoying the waterpark and the arcade we didn’t even need the offered entertainment, but if you do they have it! The Peanuts Characters are one site, we got a picture with Snoopy, and they offer music and dancing at night. I was lucky enough to tuck my tired kids into bed and then meet up with some amazing bloggers for a great evening and some fun conversation, food and wine. Thank you to Castaway Bay for hositn gmy family and giving us a fabulous Ohio waterpark adventure.
Highlights for me of Castaway Bay Indoor Waterpark are it’s a manageable size for families, nothing overwhelming, it was clean and looked nice, the stay was great and they had plenty of towels and life vest on hand. It seems to be well run and well managed and I would happily return with my family!
