I have all girls and my girls are really girly so when I find toys that encourage a love of the sciences that I think my girls will like I get excited. Zometool is exactly that kind of creative toy that sparks a love of science in kids. Zometool consists of struts (“sticks”) and balls which connect to create a wide universe of shapes so versatile that kids are absorbed for hours and so unique that they are sought after by world-leading scientists; “Zome” is a term that refers to the product’s geometrical/mathematical soul. Zometool has been used by NASA Noble Peace Prize winners and middle school science teachers alike, the possibilities are endless.
Zometool is available in 6 different and very affordable sets including Creator 1 ($59), Ice Crystals & Stars ($25), The Buckyball ($29), Crazy Bubbles ($19), Bubble Bundle ($62) and Pyramid Puzzle ($10). I knew my girls would be intrigued by the Ice Crystals & Stars Zometool set, what little girl wouldn’t want to build her own star or ice crystal. As soon as the Zometool kit arrived my 6 year old tore it open and began building, even my 4 and 3 year old got in on the action having fun making all sorts of 3-D shapes. They had a blast before they even knew all the possibilities. Once I showed them the instructions on how to make multiple stars and ice crystals things got serious as they began making them. I love how focused my girls were on creating with Zometool and the price tag is perfect. I also love that this is something you can build on buying more kits to combine and make more and more objects, plus think science project I know these will come in handy in middle school!
