The 3rd Annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day is coming up Saturday November 10 and I am really excited to go shopping at my neighborhood toy store Larson’s Toys. There are lots of great reasons that you should shop at your local toy store. Besides supporting a local business, which is always a great thing, local toy stores carry some of my favorite brands that I can not find anywhere else. Brands like Tolo, Kumon, Peaceable Kingdom, Fat Brain Toy Company and ThinkFun all brands that make quality toys your kids will love.
I was already familiar with Peaceable Kingdom, Tolo and Kumon but now I am familiar Fat Brain Toy Company and ThinkFun too. My daughter recently received the Tobbles Neo by Fat Brain Toy Company and it is one of the neatest stacker toys I have ever seen, Genevieve loves playing with the individual pieces and Colette loves stacking it for her to knock down. This toy is really well made and is one that will last through multiple kids. The Tobbles Neo by Fat Brain Toy Company won the ASTRA Best Toys for Kids 2012 award and can be found at independent toy stores nationwide for $27.99
Another winner of the ASTRA’s Best Toys for Kids 2012 Award is the Roll & Play by ThinkFun. This game is perfect for kids of various ages, all of my girls love this game. Roll & Play is a game specifically designed for toddlers and believe me they love it. The other day my 3 year old daughter played this with my 3 year old nephew and they had so much fun together. The giant plush dice is fun to toss and the activities on the cards keep them active and giggling. To play the game one child tosses the dice then picks a card based on the color they rolled. The card gives them an activity to do like pat your head 10 times. It’s lots of fun and even my almost 7 year old loves playing this game with her little sisters. Available at independent toy stores nationwide Roll & Play by ThinkFun retails for $19.99.
As a mom of 4 girls we have owned lots of toys and most of them are junk that breaks and doesn’t last or the kids loose interest. This Christmas we are buying better toys from better brands and that means I will be shopping local at independent toy stores, the big boxes don’t carry the toys I want. Make the decision to support your community and buy better toys for your kids and celebrate Neighborhood Toy Store Day Saturday November 10!
I received the featured products free of charge, all opinions are my own.
