Do you have young boys in your house who like to laugh, then Here Comes the Boom is the perfect family friendly film for you.
In the comedy Here Comes the Boom, former collegiate wrestler Scott Voss (Kevin James) is a 42-year-old apathetic biology teacher in a failing high school. When cutbacks threaten to cancel the music program and lay off its teacher (Henry Winkler,) Scott begins to raise money by moonlighting as a mixed martial arts fighter. Everyone thinks Scott is crazy – most of all the school nurse, Bella (Salma Hayek) – but in his quest, Scott gains something he never expected as he becomes a sensation that rallies the entire school.
I was not able to attend the screening so I sent some readers in my place here is what they had to say…
“We saw it (Here Comes the Boom) last night with two ten year old boys, a nine year old boy, a seven year old boy and an 11 year old girl. And two of my friends. We all LOVED it. As someone who doesn’t particularly like fighting/violence in movies, I was fine with the amount of MMA/UFC fighting that took place. It was all done in good taste. No bad language that I recall and absolutely no sex or inappropriate displays. A huge puke scene made for belly laughs by all the boys. All in all, great family movie with a nice, clean message about the importance of music education, loyalty and determination and lots of humor.”
“Here Comes the Boom! was hilarious! Kevin James, Selma Hayek and Henry Winkler kept us all entertained. The ending was predictable but everyone was cheering the characters on!”
