When I have heard the radio ads for CoCo Key Waterpark I never had any desire to go, the image that came into my head was taking an outdoor waterpark and putting a roof over it and while that is somewhat accurate it is not totally true. A friend of mine went to a birthday party at CoCo Key and raved about it and since my little girl turned 5 I had to check it out with her and her friends. My daughter is my oldest and all her friends are the oldest in their family too so I was wondering how CoCo Key would be for families with multiple young kids. All of my kids were so excited as were there friends as the day approached and even though CoCo Key is 45 minutes from Columbus it was well worth the drive even for a day trip.
We arrived to find a party room all set and ready and a cute sign saying Happy Birthday to my daughter, she loved that. The table was set with a party bag for each child and balloons tied onto the back of the chairs. The party room even had a private bathroom which was great for us moms with little ones. Then we suited up and headed to the waterpark ready for some fun. The water park was the perfect size for families. I was really worried about it being too overwhelming with 3 young kids and that I would not enjoy it but be very stressed. I was not stressed at all, but rather had a great time. My youngest loved the kiddie area with the zero entry and my older two had a blast climbing up the water towers and going down the slides. Even my friend who had a 6 month old with a 3 year old and twin 5 year olds didn’t feel like this water park was too much.
CoCo Key had a great environment for the kids and was very very clean. I liked that there was only one way in so I only had one exit to watch and nothing was too spread out. CoCo Key also provided towels so if you forgot yours or yours was soaking wet you could grab a fresh towel at the stand. If you needed food or drinks, they had you covered and if your kids needed a break head on out to the arcade.
After we played in the waterpark for 2 hours we headed back to the party room for dinner. Dinner was personal pizzas from Pizza Hut which was perfect for the kids and even the adults! Then they brought out the cake (normally the mascot does this but my daughter is terrified of mascots so we skipped that). All the kids loved their party bags especially the stuffed CoCo Key parrots and the ice cream poppers. Then while the food settled the kids headed off to the arcade for some fun.
The arcade had lots of games that were suitable for all games and skill levels. They even had a photo booth that we had a blast using! After we played games for an hour we headed back to the waterpark for some more fun until the park closed at 9 pm. We wound down the evening soaking in a giant hot tub with the kids which was relaxing and lots of fun. My kids have been asking daily to return and I have promised we will. CoCo Key is well worth the trip and would make a great family day trip, weekend getaway ( you can stay at the attached Cherry Valley Lodge) or birthday party destination.
Thanks to CoCo Key for providing my daughter and her friends with a memorable birthday party that will be hard to beat.
