This past week Charley’s Philly Steaks opened a new location in Columbus, Ohio at the Graceland Center in Clintonville. My husband and I have enjoyed several date nights at other Charley’s locations but never before have we taken the kids. Sadly my kids are not very adventurous and refuse to try the menu at Charley’s so we haven’t taken them there.

We all know about the Aflac Duck and his promise to help you out when you can’t work by providing cash via supplemental insurance. I’ve seen the commercials and I have thought about what a great service that is to have cash when you need it most, but I never really processed what it means to be unable to work due to medical issues or injuries. How do you survive when life’s circumstances mean you just can’t work? And what if the reason you can’t work is a sick child? Aflac knows that the ripple effect of the financial burden caused by an unplanned health event can be especially compounded around the holidays.
This year Aflac asked me to be an Aflac Holiday Helper, Santa’s friend here in Central Ohio, to a family who could use some extra holiday cheer. No matter how set you are financially, the reality is that most of us will be strained with prolonged hospital stays and medical bills.
I am seriously over the moon with my kids progress at Goldfish Swim School. They took my timid, shy kid who didn’t want to get her face wet and turned her into a real swimmer. She can swim a legit freestyle stroke and it makes me so happy. It is incredible to watch her pride as she swims like a pro. Just to show you how far she has come I put together a little video showing her one year ago and now.
I learned to ski right after I learned to walk, literally not joking. I grew up outside of Pittsburgh, PA and we had seasons passes to Seven Springs or Hidden Valley depending on the year. My love of winter and snow came from my love of snow skiing, it’s one of my favorite things to do. Growing up we spent spring break out west skiing Breckenridge, Copper Mountain and Loveland, those are some of my favorite memories. When I met my husband he too enjoyed skiing but had not been exposed to it like I had. We remedied that and soon found ourselves skiing every weekend. In college, he joined the Ohio State Slalom Racing team and spent 2-3 days a week on the slopes at Snow Trails. We even spent one spring break with my family out west in Colorado and then went to Mt. Tremblant with his ski teammates (I am still jealous over missing that powder!). Like I said we LOVE to ski!
Disney on Ice Dare to Dream is coming to Columbus, Ohio and I have a 4 pack of tickets to give away. My girls have been to Disney on Ice 2 times before and have been asking to go back. The billboards are up all over town and every time we see one the squeals of delight happen all over again. This year Elsa, Anna and Olaf will be joining in the ice skating fun and that is really exciting news for my girls.
