What I Wore Real Mom Style: Wide Leg Pants

wide leg pants

Well I did it, I jumped on the wide leg pants train and I have to say I love it! I found these stunning pants at Kohl’s and I had to refrain from buying them in two other prints. I love the flowy feel and the way they billow when I walk, heavenly! I thought I knew how I would pair these and I brought several tops into the fitting room with me, but in the end I fell in love with the top that is the perfect mix of flowy and fitted. I love that it accents the waist yet isn’t too fitted on my stomach ( where I want more flow). I ended up with a stylish flat too which was another opposite of what I assumed, I thought I would want a heel but these just fit and they add to the comfort of this outfit. I wore this to church on Sunday and it was perfect for chasing my baby girl and looking my Sunday best all at once.

What I Wore Real Mom Style: iRetreat Conference Fashion

iretreat

The past few days I have been in New Orleans at iRetreat enjoying fabulous company, inspirational speakers and a city bursting with personality. I have enjoyed strolling the streets and seeing all the beautiful buildings while here and the company has been amazing.

One of the new twists for me at a blogging conference is that this time I am also here as a brand, That Chic Mom Tees. It’s so interesting to meet people and listen to the information as both a blogger and a brand.

So without further ado here is what I have worn so far at iRetreat 2015!

cocktail dress

For the cocktail party I wore this fun Simply Vera dress from Kohl’s I got 2 years ago, with coral wedges and a fun new necklace I got at Cents of Style.

maxi dress with denim vest

For the first day of events including  super fun 2nd line parade I wore this great maxi dress I got at Sears a few years ago with a denim vest from Target. FASHION TIP: add a vest, jacket or cardigan to avoid bra strap issues on narrow strapped dresses.

What I Wore Real Mom Style: I’m A Caffeinated Taxi

caffeinated taxi me

I am really, really, excited about my newest shirt that I just added to my Etsy shop That Chic Mom Tees. The shirt says Caffeinated Taxi which is the perfect description for me and my life these days.

My youngest two kids are not great sleepers which means I am not getting much sleep by default. Since sleeping in is not an option I need lots and lots of caffeine to get me through the day. Most days I spend lots of time behind the wheel taxiing my kids from here to there. One day as I sat behind the wheel I joking told my husband I was a taxi running on caffeine and the idea for my caffeinated taxi shirt was born.

caffeinated taxi shirt outfit

I love how the shirts turned out and I even had it put on a tank top just for summer. The fit is loose and flowy yet flattering perfect for every busy, tired and highly caffeinated mom out there!

So if you see me wearing this shirt over and over again, well it’s because it fits my life so perfectly right now I can’t help myself, plus it’s flattering or at least I think so! You can order yours from my Etsy shop That Chic Mom Tees.

What I Wore Real Mom Style: The Perfect Tunic

Last week was a super crazy busy week for me, I spent a few days in Cincinnati as part of the Pampers Baby Board and we were busy. I learned about some awesome new changes to diapers coming in the fall BUT you will just have to wait on those details. Those two days were a giant breath of fresh air as I spent time with some amazing blogger friends who I hardly ever see in real life. All that to say life has been crazy busy since nothing stopped at home and I jumped right back into things when I arrived back home.

black tunic top

I have been struggling with finding time to workout and for the first time in my life (other than pregnancy) the scale is moving in the wrong direction. I am so not happy about this and sadly it does not seem to be motivating me just depressing me, so as I struggle to find time and motivation I am also frustrated with my wardrobe and it not fitting how I want. The good news is I did find a fabulous new top that I love, it’s a super flattering tunic from Kohl’s Simply Vera Vera Wang collection and I think I need it in the navy blue color too.

How to Wear Shorts According to 9 Stylish Moms

styling shorts as a mom

styling shorts

Does the word shorts make you feel uneasy? It does for me, I am not a shorts person and really only wear them on extremely warm days. But I am a busy mom and much of my summer is spent outside so I turn to shorts when the temps get way too high. Here is one of my favorite ways to wear shorts, with a flowy top and fun sandals.

Last summer I discovered boyfriend shorts and they changed my life, I finally found a short that was comfy and I felt good in. These shorts have become my go to pair any time I need a pair of shorts they look cute cuffed or you can unroll them for an unfinished cutoff look ( here is a more affordable pair).

Another look I love is adding a graphic tee and some colorful sandals, so fun and easy! Add some jewelry and you have a cute casual outfit.

Babymoov Diaper Bags- The Perfect Travel Bag for Baby

babymoov traveller bag

Traveling with a little one can be a daunting task, they require so much stuff! It seems like those first few years of stuff our luggage doubles with everything that baby needs, not just gear like strollers and portable cribs, but also clothes, diapers and all the stuff you need in a diaper bag. I recently found the perfect travel diaper bag for baby, this bag is huge! I mean really huge as in my 3 year old can sit inside it huge!

babymoov diaper bag

Not only is this bag large but it comes with great accessories and pockets that make sense for orderly packing. The Traveller Bag from Babymoov comes with a changing pad, transparent bag, insulated bag, soother bag and stroller straps. The bag was designed with a 48 hour trip for baby in mind and I must say the size is perfect! If baby is not here yet it is also a perfect maternity bag as you pack for the hospital, I always ended up with 3 bags when I went to the hospital to deliver. I had one bag for me, a diaper bag and another bag with extra baby stuff, this bag would have helped me eliminate the need for one of those bags. And then when baby get solder you have the perfect overnight bag for grandma and grandpas!

Tips to Energize Your Wardrobe this Summer

navy leggs

Summer has begun and with that so has wedding and graduation season. All of those special occasions mean you want to look and feel your best, especially since the chance of being photographed is very high. These occasions also call for long days on your feet and very tired legs. When I was pregnant I had circulation issues in my legs and wore compression tights a lot, the difference they make in your energy is amazing, but they are HOT so I would never wear them outside of pregnancy. L’eggs has come out with a fabulous new collection of energizing sheer tights to help us look great and stay energized. L’eggs Sheer Energy Sheer Tights offer 360 degree medium support with micro-massaging technology and they come in great colors! L’eggs sent me some of these new energizing tights to add a little extra energy to my look and I had so much fun styling them.

I admit it was at first challenging to think of tights in the summer but after putting these on and seeing how sheer they are I was sold, my legs felt and looked amazing (hiding all those ugly varicose veins pregnancy gifted me). When I think of energizing my look for summer 2 things come to mind bold colors and animal prints!

leggs sheer energy

Energizing Your Look with Bold Colors: Try something unexpected. I took an outfit I already liked and added a little boldness to it by introducing a bright new color with my purse, earrings and lipstick. The navy sheer tights really gave the look a finished touch and I love how it turned out, unexpected and fun!

leggs black energize

Enerigize Your Look with Animal Prints: Animal prints are always bold and fun and the perfect way to add a striking element to a look. I paired a basic black dress with some tribal embellishments with some leopard heels and my black sheer tights. I added a white purse with neutral animal print detailing to keep the outfit light for summer and the finished look is elegant and fun.

What I Wore Real Mom Style : Cobalt Blue Obsession #RealMomStyle

I am totally obsessed with cobalt blue right now, it helps that it is a color I look good in!

Cobalt blue

Over the weekend I wore cobalt blue several times and then today for my piece on the local news about Father’s Day DIY gifts. Then I came home and threw on my cobalt blue Blogging Life Tee to take my kids to swim practice.

My Top 3 Summer Must Have Wardrobe Pieces for Summer

mom uniform for summer

Narrowing it down to just 3 must have times for summer was really hard for me, there are so many must haves for me right now. But when I took a moment to really think about it I realized I have been wearing a version of the same thing over and over again lately, it has become my mom uniform for summer of sorts. When I realized that it became clear what MY top 3 summer must have wardrobe pieces are.

3 summer must haves

1: Graphic Tees: Of course my favorites are from my collection that I design and sell in my Etsy shop, but really I am just loving graphic tees in general. They are cute, fun, stylish and very practical!

2. Distressed Cropped Jeans: I am loving the boyfriend fit but really any distressed cropped jean works. I love the character and style that the distressing adds. I love my Ag Slim Ex-boyfriend jeans or a more reasonable price are these great Rock & Republic distressed cropped jeans from Kohl’s.

3. Espadrille Flats: I am obsessed with these comfy slip on shoes, my two favorite pairs right nwo are these gold Sam Edleman espadrille flats and these silver linen Sperry espadrille flats.

FabKids Fabulous Kids Fashion

fabkids yellow dress

My daughter is extremely picky about what fabrics she will wear. She is very sensitive to touch and texture and that can make dressing her really hard especially since most of her clothes are hand me downs not chosen by her. I always know that I can count on FabKids to provide two new outfits each month that she will love since the dresses and leggings are made out of super soft fabric that she loves.

This months picks are so super cute, yes I know I say that every month but seriously everything is so so cute from FabKids! The first outfit is a drop waist style dress, a great style for my tall skinny girl, in a bright sunshiny yellow. Paired with cobalt blue leggings this is a fun summer color combination. This outfit is the sunshine outfit.

rainbow stripe fabkids dress

Because my daughter loves all things bright and colorful and rainbow she of course wanted the Rainbow Stripe outfit. This dress is great since it has sleeves and a fun bow detailing on the back on the neck. This is the ideal dress for a princess playing putt-put as you can see!

As you know I am a fan of Fabkids, they offer stylish children’s apparel each month for the low price of $29.95 for outfits and $16.95 for shoes. This is a subscription based service but you choose the items and you choose whether it comes or not. Recently FabKids made some great changes to the service that make me love it even more including the option to mix and match the outfit pieces creating the look that your child will love best. And your first outfit is just $15.

What I Wore Real Mom Style: Maxi Dress and Denim Vest #RealMomStyle

maxi dress with denim vest

Inspired by my friend Andrea I tried a new look, adding a denim vest to a maxi dress and I LOVE it. So far I have worn my denim vest with two different maxi dresses and I have plenty more to pair it with. I got my denim vest at Target as well as this maxi dress. The Target maxi dress I can’t find online ( so look in store) but here are a few other maxi dresses that would look great styled with a denim vest.

maxi dress

This is the same dress from Kohl’s in multiple prints and it is on sale for $19.99 right now!! I love that a denim dress gives the  illusion of shape to the otherwise straight maxi dress, plus it hides the tummy a bit more as maxi dresses can be unforgiving in that area.

So what do you think about pairing a denim vest with a maxi dress?

How To Wear Neon

neon pink shirt outfit with jeans

When people hear the word neon they are either scared and have flashbacks to bad 80’s memories OR they are excited about adding a pop of fun and color into their wardrobe. I am excited about adding a fun pop of color to my wardrobe. I love neon, the fun pop of color really makes me think summer.

neon pink shirt outfit

The key to wearing neon is doing it in pops and on classic pieces, that way you don’t look like you forgot what era it is. If you are nervous accessories are a really fun way to add neon, you can do stunning heels or even flipflops or a purse. Once you have embraced neon you can do a shirt or even pants ( yes I have neon pink pants that I love.)

7 Comfy & Stylish Shoes for Mom

7 comfy and stylish shoes

No matter what your style preference you can find some fabulous shoes that are both stylish and comfortable. These 7 are my favorite styles, all found at ShoeBuy and all super cute.

Casual Sandals:

Forget the rubber flip-flops and treat your feet to something way more chic and just as comfortable.  The casual sandal is a trend that is perfect for stylish moms everywhere who are on the go this summer. These sandals are perfect to pair with your favorite denim shorts when picking up the kiddos from summer camp or with a sundress at your next family picnic. I love the Birkenstock Mayari Birko-Flor™ or the Lucky Brand Abbee.

Comfy Flats for On-The-Go:

Comfort is key this summer so keep your feet happy in secure and cushioned flats.  We know you have a lot to get done this summer from chasing your kids to running errands, so show your feet some love.  These flats can be paired perfectly with a casual tee and your go-to shorts or capris. Two fabulous choices are the Crocs ColorBlock Flat and the Merrell Mimix Haze.

sperry silver linen

Canvas/Espadrilles:

Slip in and go!  A pair of canvas sneakers or classic espadrilles are a closet must-have this season.  These shoes are effortlessly chic and are always a crowd pleaser.  Make sure to pair  these with a cute top and shorts or a summer dress for your family days on the boardwalk. I am in love with the Sperry Top-Sider Katama

crocs espadrille

Wedges you CAN walk in:

Reach new heights without a struggle.  Wedges don’t always mean you have to sacrifice comfort for style.  These shoes are perfect for your summertime events with your friends or co-workers. Dress up your skinny jeans or maxi dress with your new summer wedge! Both the Naturalizer Narlene and the Crocs Leigh Graphic Wedge are incredibly comfortable.

What I Wore Real Mom Style: 2 Ways to Wear a Pleated Skirt #RealMomStyle

pleated skirt tucked in shirt

Recently I bought a fun patterned pleated skirt and then it sat in my closet as I debated what to wear it with. I finally came up with 2 different ways to wear it, both are fun and both are different than I typically do. Reworking and mixing up my clothes is a great way to refresh my wardrobe without spending a lot of money. Here are two different ways I wore my pleated skirt:

How to Style White Jeans for Summer

white jeans outfit

Summer is coming and that means white jeans!!! I love a bright white pair of jeans to provide stark contrast and that I am on vacation feel. There is something classic about white jeans that I just love. For many years I shied away scared of the many, many ways my kids would ruin them but you know what?

Life is too short to be scared of ruining my white jeans!

white jeans coral top

white jeans

So  last summer I got these jean capris at Kohl’s from the Jennifer Lopez Collection line, they have a similar pair of white denim capris again this year, and they are going to get worn a lot more this summer. I love that these are a nice thick denim so no need to worry about them being see through and they also have some stretch.

White looks best with bright colors to really make them pop with contrast and since I am loving coral right now this flowy coral Mossimo button up blouse from Target is perfect. I added  my favorite gold necklace, this fun white and gold purse and these cute jeweled wedge sandals. I love how the white and coral really pop against each other and the whole outfit just screams summer to me!
