My husband and I do not go out on date’s often enough, we really need to make it more of a priority! This past week we had the pleasure of going on a date to Houlihan’s to try out the new lighter fare menu and it was soooooo good and we had a great time having adult conversation in a great restaurant!
The last time I was in a Houlihan’s was 10 years ago, that location has since closed and a few years ago a new location was built near my house that looks like a whole new Houlihan’s totally different from the one I remember. From the moment we walked in the door until the moment we left our experience was fabulous. The food, the service and the ambiance all were perfect and we had a lovely date night with memorable food.
Houlihan’s has a new lighter fare menu and every option sounds mouth-wateringly delicious. It took us awhile to decide as it all sounded so good but we ended up both ordering from the lighter fare menu, he got the Miso Grilled Salmon with stir-fried quinoa and steamed edamame and I ordered the Rice-Noodle Salad with Ginger-Soy Prime Top Sirloin with chili-lime dressing. Both these meals were amazing!
I was surprised at all the flavor and the spicy kick that my salad had. All too often I feel like restaurants are afraid of bold flavors and the food turns out being forgettable, this Rice-Noodle Salad from Houlihan’s is not a meal I will forget and it is definitely one I will return to enjoy again!
My husband loved his salmon as well and said it was the best piece of salmon he has had at a restaurant in a long time, high praise from him! The stir-fried quinoa was delicious and surprised him since he had never had quinoa before. Before we enjoyed our meals we split the chicken lettuce wrap appetizer which was delicious too. I have had chicken lettuce wraps at several restaurants and even make them at home, but these are the best I have ever had. We were so stuffed from all the delicious food that we had no room for dessert, but next time I plan on enjoying the Key Lime Mousse (also from the lighter fare menu).
Houlihan’s was not only delicious and low in calories but it was budget friendly! Our 2 entrees plus an appetizer and 2 drinks was $52! The service was very fast, which we appreciated since the baby came along, and everything was delicious, we will definitely be back!
